Our Principal, Cindy White, M.ED. developed our academic program which emphasizes brain based teaching. Students are involved in a “read, write, create”, project based instructional program in each of the core curricular areas. Instead of traditional paper and pencil (workbook) learning, students work diligently with the teacher’s instructions to create projects with a hands on approach. Students learn that there is a purpose for the objectives of the lesson and upon completion children gain an imprint on the brain which allows long term retention.

Ultimately, whatever the students are learning, they read literature, based on the thematic subject repeatedly throughout the week and then simultaneously they create through art a project. Students balance the project with written language which is edited daily. Students use both the left and right sides of their brain which builds intelligence. At the end of the week, students present their project in a small group which in turn builds self esteem. Students are very successful and become very confident learners in all academic areas.
